A beloved photograph as artistic inspiration
Do you have a beloved photograph stored on your computer under “travel photos” or the like, the subject of which you’d love to showcase in your space as a painting?
I often work from my own reference photos as they can act as a starting place. My emphasis lies on the creative interpretation of colour, form, and feeling. Commission work calls for a marriage of my style and interpretation and your feelings for a specific subject. Read more on how I work here.

Examples
“Joyful Blossoms”, 2022
This painting (acrylic on canvas, 100 x 80 cm/39 x 31 in.) is the result of a desired theme, based on a memory: a trip to England. The collector provided me with a few photographs of bright blossoms in springtime. I used these images as a starting point. We discussed colour palette and mood: bright and joyful!
“Blue Sunset”, 2020
This painting (acrylic on canvas, 70 x 50 cm/27.6 x 19.7 in.) is an example of a commissioned artwork based on an individualized theme. The customer had a theme and colour palette in mind initially. We discussed this as well as the mood and size that would fit the destination space. I write about this experience working on commission in one of my blog posts.
